In my first-place National History Day project, I analysed Mandela’s anti-apartheid struggle and saw institutions as palimpsests, carrying the legacies of past conflicts through a self-directed play.

Delivered a speech on labelling culture and its effect on society, ranking 3rd out of 120+ speakers globally.
Through the process, I became determined to challenge and reshape the pervasive culture of labelling in my community. “If not me, who? If not now, when?” By furthering my studies in history and sociology, I hope to combat the toxic labelling and generalization of human identity.
